Mission Meeresgrund – The Adventure of a Lifetime

Since 2023, in collaboration with Heide-Park Soltau GmbH, we have been transporting visitors into a captivating underwater world filled with mystery, mythology, and suspense. Mission Meeresgrund is a unique experience that combines cutting-edge technology with immersive storytelling to create a truly unforgettable attraction.

Our scope of work extended far beyond technical installation. We were responsible for the full programming, effect design, lighting design, and overall concept development. In addition, the experience is continuously reimagined, expanded, and refined on an annual basis—including ongoing support to ensure that each mission offers new surprises.

An Experience for All Ages

One of the key highlights of Mission Meeresgrund is its innovative multi-show system, enabling different versions tailored specifically for children and adults. This ensures that every visitor is engaged at the right level, depending on their sense of adventure.

Notably, the attraction is designed as the first show environment without direct player interaction. Instead, the experience unfolds entirely through atmosphere, visual effects, and narrative storytelling. The integration of numerous video effects creates a deeply immersive environment where the boundaries between reality and fiction begin to blur.

Embark on a perilous journey into the dark depths of the ocean and explore a pirate ship that has lain submerged for centuries. Was it a violent storm that caused the ancient galleons to sink? Or perhaps a colossal kraken? And is it true that pirates still roam the depths below?

Discover the truth for yourself—but be warned: within the creaking timbers, narrow corridors, and shadowy corners of the wreck, countless secrets await. With every passing minute, the tension rises. And slowly… the air begins to fade.

Technical Insight

From a technical perspective, the attraction is driven by a highly sophisticated combination of precisely coordinated effects and components. A total of 34 independent audio channels create a dense, spatial soundscape, enhancing individual scenes with pinpoint accuracy. This is complemented by numerous discreetly integrated speakers, ensuring precise sound placement throughout the environment.

Atmospheric depth is further enhanced by seven distinct fog effects, including traditional fog staging, targeted mist effects, and a dripping water effect that adds an additional layer of realism. Three compressed air nozzles are strategically deployed to deliver unexpected physical impulses, intensifying immersion. Specialized show elements, such as a rat effect, further enrich the scenographic density.

More than 50 individually controllable lighting effects allow for dynamic and highly precise illumination, fully synchronized with all other show elements. This is supported by a wide range of video effects that extend and deepen the visual environment. Various animated set pieces bring the scenes to life, while interactive elements actively engage visitors within the experience.

A particular highlight is the use of large-scale tentacles that extend into the visitor pathway, creating intense proximity effects and moments of tension. The interplay of all these technical components results in a multi-layered immersive experience that deliberately plays with perception, spatial awareness, and suspense.
